PERSONALISED TRIP TO RWANDA
Rwanda is one of the smallest countries in east-central Africa, surrounded by Uganda to the north, Burundi to the south, Tanzania to the east and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. Its climate is temperate to subtropical.
Today it's a country where you'll feel welcome, with a tangible sense of optimism echoing through its colourful towns and villages. Despite its turbulent past, the Pays des Mille Collines is now a safe and friendly safari destination, a true gem on African soil, replete with majestic green mountains, and its Virunga volcanoes in the northeast are home to the famous mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Rwanda features a variety of natural landscapes, including the inland beaches of Lake Kivu, the rainforests of Nyungwe Forest National Park and the sophisticated capital of Kigali.
Tucked away among iconic safari destinations, Rwanda offers visitors a unique experience and some of the best primate tracking on the planet: this is the place where you can walk to come face to face with a wild mountain gorilla, cradling her baby as she scratches its ear with her finger. The steaming forests of Volcanoes National Park are home to more than half of the world's remaining mountain gorilla population, fun-loving Sykes monkeys, golden monkeys and rambunctious chimpanzees. Some thirty-five years ago, Virunga's population declined due to poaching and habitat loss, but thanks to major conservation efforts, the count has gradually increased again.
